A Man’s World is a mixed-media project combining found imagery with digital illustration to explore everyday behaviours that have become normalised within male-dominated spaces in Pakistan society. Through humour, observation, and social commentary, the project reflects on how certain actions are perceived differently depending on gender and cultural expectations.
A recurring illustrated character was created to navigate these scenes and highlight the absurdity of behaviours often accepted as ordinary. One image depicts men bathing communally in a canal, observed from the perspective of a woman experiencing these public spaces differently. Another image shows the character urinating beside a wall despite a written warning in Urdu stating that doing so is prohibited and comparing offenders to donkeys. These visual moments emphasise the contradiction between public behaviour, social norms, and accountability.
By layering illustration onto found photographs, the project creates a playful yet critical commentary on masculinity, public space, and gendered experiences within everyday life.
